First Cut: Chinese Junipers

November 14 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

First Cut: Beginner Bonsai Workshop

Your first bonsai starts here.

Chinese Junipers (Nov 14): This session uses Chinese juniper, a tough, forgiving evergreen that handles Texas heat and takes wire well. It’s a great first tree for learning to shape branches.

First Cut is for people who have never styled a tree. In two hours, you’ll take a starter tree from nursery stock to a bonsai you can take home, and you’ll learn why each step matters along the way. We’ll cover how to choose which branches stay and which go, how to prune and wire, how to pot the tree, and how to care for it once it’s on your windowsill or patio.

We provide the tree, pot, soil, wire, and tools. Bring your curiosity. No experience is needed.

You’ll leave with your own bonsai and a clear idea of how to keep it growing.
